So many dolls, so little time

September's been a really busy month. A bit like in the saying "living in interesting times". On the bright side, there are many wonderful people I've been meeting.
To make the most of the last warm days, I've called a dolly picnic. There was home-made cake, ducks on the pond, squirrels in the bushes and dozens of dolls on the blanket. And a new friend, who showed up, because - as she said - she'd been interested in dolls for some time, but's been hiding with it because of the family, society and doubt in her own mental health. I'm not sure if we've dispelled her doubts concerning anybody's mental health, but I hope that now at least she's not alone.
For me, my first encounter with the collector community was like a big breath of fresh air. Not being the only weirdo was surprisingly comforting. ;)
What was your first contact with other dolly collectors like?

Wrzesień był naprawdę absorbującym miesiącem. Trochę jak w powiedzeniu "żyć w ciekawych czasach". Dobrą stroną są wspaniali ludzie, których spotykam.
Żeby wykorzystać ostatnie ciepłe dni, skrzyknęłam lalkowy piknik.  Było domowe ciacho, kaczki w stawie, wiewiórki w krzakach i dziesiątki lalek na kocyku. I nowa znajoma, która się pojawiła, bo - jak mówiła - interesuje się lalkami od pewnego czasu, ale trochę się z tym kryje z powodu rodziny, społeczeństwa i zwątpienia we własne zdrowie psychiczne. Nie jestem pewna, czy rozwiałyśmy jej obawy odnośnie czyjegokolwiek zdrowia psychicznego, ale mam nadzieję, że przynajmniej teraz nie jest z tym sama.
Dla mnie, pierwsze spotkanie ze społecznością kolekcjonerów było jak haust świeżego powietrza. To, że nie jestem jedynym dziwolągiem, było zaskakująco pocieszające. ;)
Jaki był Wasz pierwszy kontakt z innymi lalkowymi kolekcjonerami?

The Dollhouse Museum

The Dollhouse Museum in Warsaw || Muzeum Domków dla Lalek w Warszawie.

If you ever happen to be in Warsaw, The Dollhouse Museum is a must-see for a doll enthusiast. It is quite easy to get there - it's located in the centerpiece attraction of the capital city, the Palace of Culture and Science. If you are going by train, it is just above the Warsaw Central Station.
My only complaint is that the Palace is quite large and we had to make an almost complete circle around it to find some guide-posts of the museum. However, having arrived there, we forgot the inconvinience.

Jeśli kiedyś zdarzy się Wam być w Warszawie, Muzeum Domków dla Lalek jest przystankiem obowiązkowym dla miłośnika lalek. Dość łatwo tam trafić - jest zlokalizowany w głównej atrakcji stolicy, Pałacu Kultury i Nauki. Jeśli jedziecie pociągiem, jest niemal dokładnie nad stacją Warszawa Centralna.
Jedyny zarzut jaki mam, to że musieliśmy obejść dookoła prawie cały Pałac, całkiem spory, zanim zauważyliśmy drogowskazy na muzeum. Jednak po dotarciu na miejsce szybko zapomnieliśmy o niedogodności.

Lodka doll and a bit of local history

While looking for an inspiration to participate in Heather's Adventurer's Club I stumbled upon a local project - a doll named Lodka, created by Monika Onoszko to promote young and talented fashion designers from Lodz city. It is quite fresh as until now the doll had two fashion collections - fall/winter and spring - created for her. You can read more here. I found out that for a short period of time, until 6. march, you can see the doll in the Museum of the Factory. Admission free!

I've decided to go there and check it out for you. ;) And I finally knew what I wanted to show in this month's theme of the Club.

Finally, after more than two years I made something I could call the first decent template for my blog. I feel spring in the air!

Oh, speaking of two years, I missed my second anniversary! No loss, since I almost hit 100 posts, there will be a GIVEAWAY CANDY on 100th post!

Thank you for all the positive feedback on my Asa! I've been spending all my spare time on her recently.

But today it's not about BJD, it's about the diversity of the dolly world. It feels like I've just been there, but in reality the time is running like crazy and it'd been three weeks ago!

Hello,
I'm IHime and I live in Poland. Among many, many things that I do, I collect dolls. Actually, it's been 15 years since I officially skipped from "having dolls" to "collecting them". ;) These are mainly fashion dolls in many shapes and forms, since the only criterium is what I like. I enjoy restyling them, making clothes and I'm working on my photographing skills.
Until recently I've had a never-updated homesite about my dolls and been quite active on The Polish Doll Collector Forum DollPlaza. I've decided to come out with my doll collecting on this blog to meet new people, open up to other points of view and simply share the beauty and joy of collecting.

Now I know how to add a photo :)
