Monsters!

I've been keeping rats for seven years, but this is the first time ever they've had a nibble of one of my dolls. So this first time they had two. They completely ruined Twyla and Skelita.
It's totally my fault. I didn't predict they could get up on the shelf, I didn't watch them carefully enough. I don't know who actually did it, the photo is totally staged (code name: maple syrup). The girls look here pretty innocent, maybe it was the boys? ;)

Mam szczury od siedmiu lat, ale po raz pierwszy uszczknęły sobie jednej z moich lalek. Przy pierwszym podejściu dorwały dwie. Kompletnie zniszczyły Twylę i Skelitę.
To całkowicie moja wina. Nie przewidziałam, że mogą dostać się na półkę, nie pilnowałam ich wystarczająco. Nie wiem, kto konkretnie to zrobił, zdjęcie jest oczywiście upozowane (hasło: syrop klonowy). Dziewczęta wyglądają tutaj dość niewinnie, może to byli chłopcy? ;)

A word from Latimeria

It was a very nice surprise that some wonderful people voted on me and let me win Kida's "pets in forbidden places" competition, but it was especially important to Latimeria, the rattie in the winning photos.
Because, you know, it is not easy being Latimeria. Born to an underaged mother, growing up with seven brothers. Being the only girl, always the smallest, and - honestly - not a very pretty one, made her tough. She had to be tougher than all her brothers combined. So, she's always two steps ahead of them, going faster and higher than any of them ever thought.
 Lati is a "patched" or "double rex" rat variety and it is normal for her to go bald from time to time. She is one year old. She lives with her mother and two brothers and the rest of the unrelated pack.

 Było dla mnie bardzo miłą niespodzianką, że niektórzy cudowni ludzie głosowali i pozwolili mi wygrać zabawę Kidy "zwierzaki w miejscach niedozwolonych", ale jeszcze ważniejsze jest to dla Latimerii, szczurki na zwycięskich zdjęciach. Bo wiecie, nie jest łatwo być Latimerią. Urodzona przez nieletnią matkę dorastała z siedmioma braćmi. Była jedyną dziewczynką, zawsze najmniejszą i - szczerze - niezbyt urodziwą, ale to sprawiło, że stała się twarda. Musiała być twardsza, niż wszyscy jej bracia razem wzięci. Dlatego jest zawsze dwa kroki przed nimi, szybciej i wyżej, niż któremukolwiek z nich przyszło by do głowy.
Lati jest odmiany zwanej "patched" albo "double rex" i łysienie od czasu do czasu jest dla niej normalne. Ma w tej chwili rok. Mieszka z mamą, dwoma braćmi i resztą niespokrewnionego stadka.

What's up or a pug in mud

Simran proposed a fun game to publish photos of our pets in forbidden places. I didn't have any at hand, cause when my ratties get in trouble, I rush to save their cuddly butts instead of taking pictures. However, it is just a matter of time before they come up with another mischief. And alas, Latimeria climbed on the washing line!

Simran zaproponowała fajną zabawę w publikowanie zdjęć naszych zwierzaków w zakazanych miejscach. Nie miałam żadnych pod ręką, bo kiedy moje szczurusie pakują się w kłopoty, rzucam się na ratunek ich kudłatym zadkom zamiast robić zdjęcia. Jednak tylko kwestią czasu było, żeby wymyśliły kolejną psotę. Proszę, Latimeria na sznurkach od prania!

There are rats in my new couch!

Ikea "Huset" dollhouse furniture set infested with rodents.

I guess that's what people call a bargain - I'd adopted a little rattie girl and a couple of days later she's given birth to a surprise litter. Today is their day 10 and although they can't see yet, they're quite active.

This is the time when they get used to handling. In a couple of days they will open eyes and start to explore even more.

Their mommy is called Sardines. I got the idea from Terry Pratchett's "The Amazing Maurice and His Educated Rodents". So, the litter is also called Sardines or Shrimps.

No rat was hurt during this session. I had everything ready and completed the whole shoot in less than 10 minutes, while the litter's mommy was having hard boiled egg nearby.
