I have to make another confession: I hate pink. I admitt, it can sometimes look pretty, but never serious or reliable. I de-pinkify all my dolls and stuff. Yup, that's hard for a Barbie collector.
With such an attitude I came across the Tarina Tarantino Barbie Doll...

...and instantly fell in love! Before that I'd never heard of Tarina Tarantino. Or heard, labelled as fashion-related and forgot right away. I did some research on the designer and didn't quite fancy her designs, but the doll is different. Her original ensemble doesn't say that, but she is a GOTH at heart.
Goth with pink hair - that was bold! From that point I obviously had to have the doll. But she was Gold Label and, definitely, out of my range!

I finally got her nude, stripped of all the bling, which I intended to do anyway, once again extending the amount I am willing to pay for "just a Barbie".

When she arrived, I discovered thats she's even more rebelious than I thought - against the mainstream and against the all-black and sulky goth. She doesn't take herself totally seriously. She knows she's pretty and how it influences people. Her image is a statement and a shield - "I don't fit and am happy with that".

Prawda, z tymi włosami nigdy nie będzie grzeczną dziewczynką. Jednak takie wyzwania stylistyczne lubię. :) Widziałam rerooty i wtedy dopiero wybija się jej słodka twarzyczka.

W czarnym, drapieżnym ciuszku wygląda wspaniale, ale i tak nie mogę oprzeć się wrażeniu, że w głębi duszy to słodka i delikatna dziewczyna jest.
Króliczku, jak zawsze trafiłaś w sedno! Słodka dziewczyna, która kryje się za wystylizowanym wyglądem. :) Ale Twoja różowowłosa gupika też jest niczego sobie.

ReplyDeleteMy tolerance has expanded to ash-pink over time, but other pink variations are still blah. ;) I was probably the most surprised person with my fancy for Tarina.
DeleteI love the word, "de-pinkify," lol! It should be part of the vocabularly for all of us who are not pink inclined. She is a beautiful doll and you accessorize her perfectly.
